On May 18, the museum community celebrates International Museum Day. A tradition since 1977, this day of observance involves raising awareness on the importance of museums as catalysts in the development of communities around the world. Around the world, more than 30,000 museums in 100 countries now celebrate this day, most recently as an opportunity to showcase innovations in museum education, programming and development.
